Lani Vlaanderen - Biography

Lani's art career began when her children were young.  She soon discovered a passion for painting rural and wildlife subjects which surrounded her on the ranch where they lived. Her art education began at the Art Students League of Denver, studying primarily with Kim English for four years, and then with Richard Schmid in Loveland, Colorado at the Loveland Art Centre for six years.  These two master artists have been the primary influences on her art.  Working exclusively in oil paints she describes her technique as an expression of liquid light, capturing the essence of her subject, rather than a totally realistic rendering.
